Let’s see what’s shaking.
1. Still no love for the Flickr pool. I don’t really trip off of pictures. But for those who do…feel free to put some in the pool. There’s a link to the pool in the last update.
2. The Music page is up. I laced it up with 46 different breaks to start. Over time I’m gonna continue to add more cuts but I’m really done with Webmastering for a good week after this post. When you calculate uploading, tagging, and embedding, 46 songs took me an Unreasonable amount of time to put up. A lot of them are kinda obscure. If you don’t recognize a track, download it. Musical suggestions are welcome in the Music forum.
3. Speaking of music…I have approached probably about 10 DJ’s on the subject of making mixes for me to put up on on the site over the last 3 or 4 months. So far I have no sets to show for my inquiries. I’ll restate the proposal.
Here’s the Scam:
I want local DJ’s and Producers to donate recorded sets/demos and self-produced tracks. Instrumental Sets/Tracks are preferred but the main prerequisite is that all content be good to dance to. I will place the tracks in an online file storage server then I will link to them through the site so people can download them. Noone will receive payment for the distribution of said content so you better be feeling charitable and probably should slap a Creative Commons license on your work. In return for giving us your tracks, I will personally build a special profile with a short bio, a list of your club residencies, and info on upcoming events compiled from info you provide me.
Essentially the website gets content and you get exposure(and possibly more dancers at your events). Nobody loses here. Do the math.
4. Jazzed up the colors a little bit. Breaking up the Grey on Grey action should add Sexiness as well as increasing Legibility. Reverse engineering HTML is a straight B. Being able to affect Design through Typography…player.
Cool. So now there’s actually people using the Forum. I’d like to see more but I’m happy with that. Hopefully the trend will continue and the boards will become a reliable place to congregate and get info. On to business.
The Flickr account needs love. http://www.flickr.com/groups/698677@N23/ if you don’t remember. I’m going to seed it with photos that I’ve scraped from head’s myspace pages. Unlike our videos, anybody will be able to add photos to the account once they’ve registered with Flickr.
Last but definitely not least, we have a new Administrator. MrSander7x has joined the crew and will help to take some of the work off my shoulders. In addition to being down with us he is also Vice-President of the Boiler Breakers squad(@ Purdue) and the webmaster of their website(which can be found in the “Links” section).
He’s the one that hooked up all the dope BB4C footage that just dropped and put the Purdue practice info in the forum.
